SFP Modules — 1G/10G Optical Transceivers

SFP transceiver modules turn switch uplink slots into fiber links — 1G SFP and 10G SFP+ over multimode or single-mode fiber. Lizora Infotech supplies Lysora transceivers across India, compatibility-tested with the switches they ship alongside, with quotations within 24 hours.

Overview

What SFP modules are used for

An SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) module is a hot-swappable transceiver that plugs into a switch, OLT, or router port and converts electrical signals to optical. The same switch slot can run a 300 m multimode link or a 20 km single-mode link — the module decides.

The Lysora range covers 1G SFP and 10G SFP+ modules for multimode (SR, up to 300 m) and single-mode (LR and beyond) fiber, with DDM/DOM diagnostics so the switch can read optical power, temperature, and health per link.

Typical buyers are integrators completing switch BOQs — every SFP uplink slot on the BOQ needs a module and a patch cord — and ISPs stocking transceivers for OLT uplinks and P2P subscriber links.

Key Benefits

What sfp modules give your network

1G and 10G in one form factor

SFP for gigabit links, SFP+ for 10G aggregation — same slot economics across the network.

Multimode and single-mode

SR modules for in-building runs to 300 m; LR single-mode for campus and metro distances.

DDM diagnostics

Read optical power and temperature from the switch — find dirty connectors before they drop links.

Compatibility-tested

Modules shipped with Lysora switches and OLTs are tested in those exact ports before dispatch.

Hot-swappable

Replace or upgrade a transceiver without powering down the switch.

MSA-standard design

Standards-based modules interoperate with MSA-compliant third-party equipment.

Applications

Where sfp modules are deployed

10G SFP+ links between access and core — the standard aggregation pattern.

Building interconnects

Single-mode links between blocks where copper cannot reach or ground loops bite.

Feed OLTs and PoP routers with 10G optics on single-mode plant.

Monitored critical links

DDM-visible optics on links where degradation must be seen before failure.

Buying Guide

How to choose SFP modules

Most SFP problems are matching problems. Five checks make the module, fiber, and switch agree.

  1. Match the fiber type

Multimode (OM3/OM4, usually aqua) pairs with SR modules; single-mode (OS2, yellow) pairs with LR. A module-fiber mismatch may link but will not be reliable.

  2. Match the speed to the slot

SFP+ slots usually accept 1G SFP modules, but SFP slots never run 10G. Check each device's slot rating before assuming 10G end to end.

  3. Distance with margin

SR covers up to 300 m on OM3; LR covers 10–20 km on single-mode. Pick the class above your measured run when connectors and future splices are in play.

  4. Both ends must agree

Wavelength, speed, and fiber type must match at both ends of the link. On BiDi single-fiber links, the two ends use paired opposite-wavelength modules.

  5. DDM where it matters

For backbone and revenue links, insist on DDM-capable optics so the switch can alarm on falling receive power before users notice.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between SFP and SFP+ modules?

SFP handles up to 1 Gbps; SFP+ is the same physical size rated for 10 Gbps. Most SFP+ switch slots also accept 1G SFP modules at the lower speed, but a 1G-only SFP slot can never run an SFP+ module at 10G.

Will Lysora SFP modules work in other switch brands?

Lysora modules follow the MSA standard and work in MSA-compliant equipment. Some vendors lock ports to their own branded optics — tell us the switch model and we confirm compatibility before you order, or supply optics coded for that platform.

Ask for a compatibility check

Which SFP module do I need for a 200-metre link between buildings?

At 200 m, a 10G SFP+ SR module on OM3/OM4 multimode fiber is the standard choice — the LS-SFP-10G-SR covers up to 300 m. If the route may grow past 300 m or the installed fiber is single-mode, use LR single-mode optics instead.

What is the price of SFP modules in India?

Transceiver pricing depends on speed (1G/10G), reach class (SR/LR), and quantity, with dealer slabs on volume. SFP lines are usually quoted inside a switch or OLT BOQ — send the full BOQ and every line is priced together within 24 working hours.
