This solution uses industrial, DIN-rail, fanless switching rated for the temperature and dust of factory cabinets, VLAN segmentation to keep OT traffic away from IT and CCTV, and fibre uplinks that carry no induced voltage between buildings on different earth potentials. PoE powers cameras and edge devices at the harsh edge.

The protocols are standard Ethernet; the difference is entirely in the operating envelope and the discipline of segregation, both of which are confirmed per site during planning.

How do you separate control systems from IT traffic?

OT traffic — PLCs, sensors, and control systems — runs on its own VLAN, logically separated from IT and CCTV on shared industrial cabling. This keeps a broadcast storm or a compromised device on one segment from reaching control systems.

Why can't I use commercial switches in the plant?

Commercial switches are rated for roughly 0–50 °C in ventilated rooms. Factory panels and cabinets run hotter and dustier, so industrial, fanless, wide-temperature switches are used there for reliability, not performance.

Can the switches run from panel DC power?

Yes. Industrial switches accept a wide DC input range and mount on DIN rail beside PLCs. Where they also supply PoE, the available DC voltage is checked against the PoE budget, since full output often needs the upper voltage range.
